This is the second beer I’ve had from TommyKnocker Brewery out of Idaho Springs, Colorado. I had their Pick Axe IPA this last spring when I was just down the road, in Keystone. (I thought I wrote about it, but I can’t find it now. TL:DR it’s good, get it.)
This was a pretty dark, but solid brown ale. I loved the hint of maple that it provided, but M found it too overwhelming. As someone who loves fall but can’t stand beers that taste like pumpkin pie spice, I found this to be the essence of the season.
There wasn’t much of a head or lacing when poured into a glass. This would make a fun session beer for a day doing those stereotypical fall activities-watching football and eating pie.
