Brew Review: The Midas Touch

midas touch~the comyn space

We’ve had the Midas Touch before in our Midas feast. This ancient style beer is made by Dogfish Head using a recipe as close to the ancient version as science can get us. Based on ingredients found in a 2700 year old drinking vessel in the tomb of ‘King Midas’ this beer is somewhere between wine and mead.

While sort of sweet and not terribly hoppy, the Midas Touch is a wonderful way to explore the history of brewing. The head isn’t much to sneeze at, but each swig delivers full rounded honey and papaya notes. I really like and feel like the only draw back is the price tag.
