Pasta with jarred sauce and leftover pizza are staples in the Comyn house. We never fail to have one or the other once a week. Its a great way to use up those random leftovers, like 1/3 cup of TVP (texturized vegetable protein), random vegetables, a bit of cheese. This came out of one of those nights and we’ve made it twice more since!
1/3 cup dried TVP
1/3 boiling hot water
1/2 cup jarred pasta sauce, spiced up with whatever is in your crisper!
1 cup whole wheat pasta
Cook pasta as directed. Pour boiling hot water into a small bowl over the TVP. Cover and let sit for about 10 while it reconstitutes. Meanwhile, saute half a small white onion, a clove or two of garlic, some bell pepper or any other crisp veggies you have on head. Add pasta sauce and heat thru. Add TVP and heat through, about 2 minutes. Serve over drained whole wheat pasta.
