In preparation for our trip to Madison (to see Garrison Keller! and New Glarus!) this coming weekend, we headed over to Half Acre Brewery in Lincoln Square. M also asked that we tour one local brewery a month this year. I’m not sure there are 12 breweries that do tours in Chicago – but then, I might get to add a winery or two to the list!
You can buy growlers directly from the brewery behind the storefront. They have loads of different, smaller batch stuff available as growlers that you can’t normally find at local bars. We loved the darker Belgian style brews they were sampling.
Next store, they have a small bar that serves beer that is made literally feet away. Talk about fresh! We sampled a few (I had a TomTen and Matt had an Overale). I certainly can’t wait to go back & support more locally grown options!
