Frankenstein by Mary Shelley: I picked this up mostly because I nominated it at my women’s classics book club but it was one vote shy of getting picked for our next batch of books. No more shame, I’m reading it this fall!
The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides: I found this book because a bunch of smart ladies I know are reading it and getting together next weekend to discuss it. I am 80% of the way thru it and I am still undecided! I’m so bummed I don’t get a chance to talk about it with anyone to help me sort it out.
Love Medicine by Louise Erdrich: I came to this book because Erdrich is from Minnesota. Her poetic and intensely visual style brings the Kashpaws and the Lamartines to life. I highly recommend it (but with a trigger warning for sexual violence).
The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse by Louise Erdrich: This book inhabits the same world as Love Medicine, so naturally I checked it out too.
Stories and Poems for Extremely Intelligent Children of All Ages complied by Harold Bloom: My mom got me this anthology ages ago. It is divided by season and I am trying to get thru Summer before Sept 22 when summer officially ends.
What are you reading? Anything good?
