The Day the Falls Stood Still

The Day the Fall Stood Still, by Cathy Marie Buchanan, is a great beach read. I wish I had read it on while sipping some fruity cocktail with an umbrella. It is a great piece of historical fiction (one of my personal favorites!) while maintaining a great love story. Buchanan uses fictionalized pieces of news articles, and some historical pieces, to link her main character, Bess Heath, with the Falls. Bess goes from a well-to-do family to providing for her family when her husband off to war and providing during difficult times. She writes a strong, resilient and independent thinker of a young girl as she grows into a strong, resilient and independent woman. Certainly worth reading over a cocktail 🙂

Any one have any books to recommend? I am in need a new read, of course. Reviews of Black Swan, True Grit and Blue Valentine coming soon.
